Exercise, health and nutrition

Today, most people are dying because of plenty of food, not truly dying due to starvation. So, food is a thing that comes to be the most and most crucial part in our entire life. According to the internet resources, health is determined as the level of functional and/or metabolic efficiency of an organism at both the micro(cellular) and macro(social) level.
As we all know, our bodies contain a lot of water, amino acids, lipids, nucleic acids(DNA/RNA), carbohydrates and fiber. Of course lack of one of this main items may lead to death. Everyday we need a lot of water to bring out toxic substances from our body that will particularly damage our body system at certain part.

Roughly, we should act like an athlete. We should practise drinking 400ml to 600ml of water every 2 to 3 hours daily before any activities. During the activities, we should take 150ml to 350ml water every 15 to 20 minutes. In order to replace water, lossing from our body via sweating, we need approximately 450ml to 675ml of water as we have finished our exercises. That seems too much for us to react like an athlete but the best way is that.

Courses that I take in PPOU

Since the past three weeks,I was in Preparatory Programme for Overseas Universities(PPOU). All PPOU students are joining together with engineering foundation students. In foundation level, there are lots of critical subjects the students have to learn. These include Physics, Mathematic, Chemistry, English, Academic Study Skills and last but not least, International English Language Testing System(IELTS). Swimming course is also provided here. Actually, the Preparatory Programme will take 12 months of intensive learning period that is divided into 2 ½ semester. For the first semester, all of foundation students are to complete 18 credit hours of lectures a week. Lectures will run 15 weeks for the first semester.

Considering that there are lots of students with different sponsors, our cutting point is quite different depend on who our sponsor is. The ministry of education have recommended the students with the scholarship of the ministry to pass the cutting point of 3.25. It looks quite hard but I’ll try all my might to obtain good result in the examinations.

We have lecturers that seem to be very concerned about our studies. We have Puan Fatimah as English lecturer as well as Academic Study Skills lecturer for MOE student class. She seems to be very dedicated and caring lecturer who is always putting her greatest efforts to help me going through this intensive programme. The programme has provided me adequate courses in preparation as an international student in any of the foreign universities around the world. In deed, one has to be independent while studying abroad and this programme has gradually built up my confidence, motivation, and skills for a new life in overseas. Thank you.

My first experience being a Uniten's member

Uniten is the first place for me no sooner than I finished my secondary school,SMKA Sheikh Abdul Malek in the state of terengganu. I do not expect that I shall be placed at Universiti Tenaga Nasional. Well, I am quite surprised to be placed at such private institution, one of the best universities in Malaysia as well with a scholarship under Ministry of Education. So, I am going to be a teacher in physics education some day hopefully as it is my real ambition. The first week is the Orientation Week which involves all new foundation students for academic session 2007 intake. I am in PPOU programme that stands for Preparatory Programme for Overseas Universities. All new male foundation students are placed at Kelompok Amanah Apartment while the girls are at Kelompok Ilmu Apartment as instructed. Many things has happened within the first as well as the second week, the most tiring day in my entire life I estimate. The hard thing is we have to walk on our foot to the food court which is very faraway from our apartments when night appears to have our dinner. I think we teachers should not be behaved like that. The special thing is that our apartments are equiped with internet connection systems in which can be freely used at anytime we like. Fond,kind-hearted,helpful and funny lecturers has made me easier to understand the lessons learnt. Hence, it is my responsibility to struggle and obtain good result as said "practise makes perfect".Thank you.
